Review for -  Wedding Craftsmen

Words can’t describe our experience with Weeding Craftsmen. They exceeded our every expectation. Aakash was simply the best part of the wedding day. Their presence throughout the day was reassuring and calming. Aakash and his team are very lighthearted and professional. Their buoyant personalities, humour, and smiles kept us all floating through our entire wedding day. Even many of our wedding guests commented on how sweet and fun they were throughout the event. Aside from how terrific they are to work with, the final photos came out simply stunning (not to mention, they arrived back so quickly, we had teasers within a week and final finished photos within 5 weeks). We feel honoured that their beautiful work is our wedding album. They’re incredibly talented, with remarkable editorial quality. We have such wonderful memories of our wedding, and we have weeding craftsmen to thank.

Review for -  Silver Stills

We chose Shaadi Saga because of their style of photography and the impressive reviews and examples of their work. It was just what we were looking for. On the day itself Shaadi Saga Team was with us from midday to almost midnight and not once did they stop! They were patient and unobtrusive and made everyone feel relaxed. They captured every stage of the day with some amazing shots; from the big ones to the smallest intimate moments; catching some great scenes.

Review for -  Photo Buddies

Aditya and his team covered my wedding in Mar 2019 and my younger sister's in Feb 2020. We are happy and satisfied with the work. The team is professional, humble and courteous to your family and easy to work with. They will patiently wait till the end of your functions and will go with your pace. Basically, they are really customer centric and take your requests seriously. Some good things about Aditya and team: 1. He takes feedback seriously and acts upon it. We were upset about late delivery of deliverables of my wedding which he promised to not repeat and completed the entire project of my sister in less than 3 months. 2. They are reasonable with payments and charge you in parts based on deliverables sent. Not like other photographer teams who will take 80-90% money before even functions begin. 3. The raw photos of photographers are so good. I don't personally like highly edited pics so when the albums came we all looked like ourselves and not some different color combinations (as most editors these days do so). Photobuddies have become our go to team for any family function and will continue to be in future too. Please don't hesitate to book them. Just put your requirements out clearly in terms of timings of events, shoot preference, family members to focus on, deliverables dates and you can sit back and relax. Thanks Aditya and team. Good luck with future endeavours!

What are the major rituals and traditions of the Punjabi/Sikh wedding?

Indian weddings are known for their culture and rituals. Even the smallest ritual has a lot of importance in weddings. Sikh/Punjabi weddings are also known for their rituals and fun ceremonies. Punjabi weddings are colorful and larger than life. Most of the rituals and traditions are the same as any other Indian wedding. The fun ceremonies start off with the Roka ceremony. In this, the families of the bride and groom meet and exchange gifts. This ritual shows the commitment towards each other. The gifts include clothes, jewelry, dry fruits, and sweets.

The next ceremony is of chunni chadhai where a red or pink chunni is put on the bride’s head. The chunni is placed by the groom’s mother or sister, along with other gifts. The next ceremony is engagement (sagai). This is the ring exchange ceremony. On this day, the bride and groom exchange rings in front of their family and friends. Both families also give each other gifts. Some people don’t organize a separate event for this and exchange the rings on the wedding day only.

Mehendi ceremony is a must in any Indian wedding. The henna is considered as a good fortune for the marriage life. A Mehendi artist comes and puts beautiful Mehendi designs on the bride’s hands and feet. The same ceremony takes place in the groom’s house also. And on the same night, sangeet night is celebrated. Punjabi weddings are known for their lively vibe. And not having lots of dancing, how is that possible? With lots of food, the family prepares dance performances to enjoy the night.

The next ritual is the kangana bandhna ceremony where a sacred thread is tied on the wrists of the couple. This takes place on the wedding day in their respective houses. The thread is considered to be lucky for the couple. Then the maternal uncle gifts the bride a set of 21 bangles. The bangles are usually in the hues of red and white. And before the bride wears them, they are washed with milk and rose water to purify them. The bride also wears kaleere, tied by her family and friends.

After this, turmeric paste is applied on the bride’s and groom’s body in their separate houses. It is believed that the paste will bring the glow back. The Haldi is washed off with the holy water from a nearby temple or gurudwara.

After all these pre-wedding rituals, the wedding functions come. At the venue, other rituals like varmala, pheras and kanyadan are performed.
