“Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry.”-Tom Mullen.

When Sakshi and Mayank met each other, not only did they find a deep friendship in each other but also a travel buddy that would travel with them to any part of the world, as long as it was together. And even though their dream destination wedding was planned for April 25th, the current pandemic put a break on their plans. However, as they say, love conquers all! Thus, the couple managed to have their intimate wedding despite all the hurdles. For even though they were black and white, the spectrum of their love was colourful enough to go ahead with this kind of planning and still have fun together.

Sakshi & Mayank's Intimate Wedding

"We met each other through a mutual friend, back in 2011," Sakshi recalled, "And initially we didn't like each other. Neither did we ever think that we'd be more than friends. However, once we did get to know each, our friendship blossomed and then sparks flew."

As their realtionship grew, not only did Sakshi and Mayank learn that they shared a mutual love for 'Rajma Chawal' but also that they were going to be travel buddies for a long, long time. And even though their lives were full of Yes and No's from their families, they were soon able to strike the match and zero in on a wedding date. And thus, their destination wedding wasplanned and set.

However, they had to put some much required breaks on their wedding plans when the pandemic hit. Barely three days after she had ordered her bridal lehenga, the lockdown was announced and then they had no choice but to postpone their wedding. As the couple waited, and waited and waited, not much changed in the situation, and then finally in May, they decided to get hitched.

And so, the date was set and the couple was set to be married on 11th June.

"The plan was to have an intimate wedding, only in the presence of our parents," recalled Sakshi, "However, once June came about, the government gave permission for 50 guests to attended the wedding. So, with just 10 days to plan and arrange everything, we scramed to get everything going."

After conferring with their relatives and then finally deciding on the guest list, they began searching for a venue. Their search finally came to a halt at Westin hotel, who were ready to take all the required precautions and let them host a wedding with 50 guests.

"I think the biggest problem we faced was regarding our outfits," said Sakshi, "All the markets were shut, and even though we had the option to purchase online, our choices were limited drastically."

However, in time, she was able to get her's and her groom's outfit ready and shipped from the store in Chandni Chowk. For the wedding, Sakshi dressed up in a gorgeous deep red lehenga from Chandni Chowk with golden embroidery while Mayank chose a stunning gold and beige sherwani with a red velvet dupatta for the wedding ceremony.

For those who attended the wedding, all safety precautions were set, which included sanitization and temprature checks at the entrance, masks and sanitizers for every guest and even sanitizers at every table. Plus, social distancing norms were followed, with a two feet distance between every guest.

Similarly, for those guests who couldn't come to the wedding, a Skype call was arranged. This way they could witness the wedding take place from the comfort of their homes.
