From taking a break from grand weddings, to watching the whole world switched to close-knit weddings, 2020 was a year of many surprises for us in the wedding industry.
While last year, everything was inspired by the drama and classicism of royal weddings, 2020 redefined weddings for us all. And one of the biggest things we saw change were elements of bridal fashion. While some brides picked minimal elements to rock at their intimate weddings, many chose to fill the void by opting OTT ensembles. But it wasn't just the overall ensembles that surprised us this year. It was also the small elements that contributed to creating these iconic bridal looks of 2020. So, without further ado, here's a recollection of all the bridal fashion trends from 2020 that stole the spotlight!
Bridal Fashion Trends That Ruled 2020
1. Stunning Chevron Lehengas
Also known as 'the lehengas with zig-zag pattern', chevron lehengas are swoon-worthy! The Chevron print has been in vogue since 2014. It, however, truly came to life when Sonam Kapoor Ahuja walked out in a gorgeous brown and off white Chevron print lehenga by Anamika Khanna on her reception, stunning everyone with her chic sense of fashion. And in 2020, we saw both designers and brides alike embrace this gorgeous print into lehengas that are ideal for a summery wedding!

2020 has been a great year for seashells! From seashell jewellery to outfits studded with cowrie shells, the wave of shells that washed over 2020 is one we absolutely loved! As watchers of trends online, we spotted seashells in kangans, in bridal blouses, earrings, kaleeras, haathphools and what not. Every option surprised us more than the one before and if seashell in bridal outfits and jewellery is here to stay, then we're not mad.

Dotted with multiple colours, patchwork lehengas are a bridal fashion trend we hope never goes away. This type of lehenga mostly has a ton of colours and is made with the most intricate and exquisite handwork with motifs, embroidery and sequins to name a few. It's just the right amount of quirk and colour in one outfit, which can make for a wonderful mehendi ensemble.

9. Brides Also Rocked Fanny Packs
Fanny packs are all the rage in terms of fashion in 2020. Yes, we know. The idea of a bride carrying a fanny pack sounds strange. After all, there was a time when brides all together ditched potlis because of the fuss of carrying it. But then again, 2020 brides have used every possible opportunity to surprise us. One such surprise was the addition of fanny packs to their bridal outfits, which these brides rocked like a boss.

10. Contrasting Dupattas
An Indian bride’s outfit is incomplete without a dupatta. Generally, when it comes to bridal outfits, brides often do not pair a different coloured dupatta with their lehenga. However, the millennial bride wants something unique and different for her special day, not only when it comes to the venue, decor and food, but also her trousseau. And some brides showed us how to slay a contrasting dupatta with their attire like pros!
