Well, we're still not in the green for long hours of shopping outside, but certainly visiting a designated market to do some wedding shopping (just a tiny bit) is kind of necessary. Because even though a lot is available for shopping online, it doesn't mean that everything is available online. About Greater Kailash

Greater Kailash is a large posh locality in South Delhi. It is possibly one of the largest residential and market-based locality in South Delhi, split into three parts- G.K. 1, G.K. 2 & G.K. 3. While G.K 1 is located on one side, with various sub-blocks within itself, G.K.2 & G.K 3 are on the opposite side, with their sub-blocks and market areas, slightly afar from G.K. 1. However, when it comes to the main shopping areas, and location of fashion boutiques and well-renowned tailors, G.K 1 is the place you want to visit.

It's a blend of high-end designer stores and fairly priced and affordable fast fashion street stores. You'll find amazing retail brands here for regular shopping, or even find tailors and boutiques who can stitch your right fit! The mix-match of western and ethnic fashion, artisanal cafes and amazing restaurants and lifestyle stores, Greater Kailash 1 is the embodiment of the colourful and mixed culture that represents New Delhi! Thus, our focus today will be mainly the shopping areas of G.K.1 and it's two main market areas M Block & N Block Markets. 

How To Reach Greater Kailash I?

Reaching Greater Kailash I is fairly easy! You can reach the vicinity of GK-I via two different lines of the metro- Violet Line and Magenta Line. The destination station on Violet Line is Kailash Colony, from where you exit right in front of Kailash Colony market. However, from there, if you're looking to head to M Block or N Block market, then you can either take an auto or a cycle rickshaw. The other station is Greater Kailash on Magenta Line, which is also an auto-rickshaw ride away from M Bloc & N Block markets.  

However, if you live in close vicinity to Greater Kailash, then taking either a cab or an auto directly to the marketplace is the most feasible option. You can also drive down to the markets in GK, as every market has it's own paid parking with valets, which is great for those planning to buy loads of things in one go!

Greater Kailash 1 has three separate markets- M Block, N Block & Kailash Colony- all in close vicinity of each other. Now, Kailash Colony is a market full of eating joints, with some of the best pubs and restaurants. The main area for shopping is M Block & N Block, with most local mid-range designer stores, tailors and even branded showrooms present here. Honestly, there aren't any shops designated for shopping for 'wedding essentials' in Greater Kailash 1. However, there are a few interior design and lifestyle stores, from where you can purchase bridal trousseau materials like wedding favours, pooja thalis, etc. However, they may not be your go-to one-stop-shop. On top of that, if you're looking for other supplies like sanitizers, face masks, gloves etc in bulk, then you should know that these markets have plenty of shops for those.

Important Tips To Know While Shopping At G.K. I Market

✅ Both the N Block and M Block market of G.K.1 are closed on Tuesdays. 

✅ As compared to M Block, N Block is slightly less crowded. 

✅ There is car parking (paid) in both market areas, so parking your car isn't very difficult. 

✅ Since cars cannot be taken into the market, it's best to walk inside the market lanes.

✅ Don't forget to carry your face masks and sanitizers!

• Coffee Bond: Visit this place in M Block market for excellent artisanal coffee in a variety of flavoursome variations and healthy food.
• Music & Mountains Hillside Cafe: If you're heading to this gorgeous cafe, then do try their ‘Grilled Sole Fish with Brown butter sauce and Parsley’ and ‘Bear Mountain Cajun Pasta’.
