Planning a wedding amid a pandemic is like getting on a mad roller-coaster ride. A destination wedding, to be more specific. Rhea and Avik, who tied the knot just before the onset of the second wave of coronavirus in India, had a similar wobbling experience. The couple was looking forward to an Istanbul wedding in May 2020, but we all know how Covid-19 gripped almost the entire year. They then zeroed in on a wedding in Mumbai in May 2021, the couple again had to re-plan everything and finally, they got hitched in a Jaipur wedding hosted at the opulent Oberoi Rajvilas! And what a dream destination wedding it turned out to be. It had everything from jaw-dropping decorations, unconventional bridal outfit choices, chic groom wear inspiration, a crystal-laden mandap inspired by Kim K's iconic outfit worn at Met Gala 2019, and Alia Bhatt as a bridesmaid! Rhea and Avik's wedding photos did rounds on the internet but we dug out some inside photos and details that'll have you smitten for sure.
Big kudos to the team Horizon Wie for making the wedding one exuberant affair amid the pool of challenging situations. The wedding decor pioneer Janki Desai's Altair team did a wondrous job and set up breathtaking environs for the wedding and sangeet ceremony while Reels and Frames lensed the magical wedding.
Glimpses From Rhea and Avik's Wedding in Jaipur
Intimate Bengali Wedding At Home
The wedding celebrations kicked off with an at-home Bengali wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Only the family members were in attendance for the do. The lush green home lawn was amped with romantic white drapes with a touch of pastel roses and foliage. Rhea made a traditional Bengali bride as she embraced a graceful red saree with gold jewellery and a mukut. Avik too took the traditional route and played the Bengali Groom Game strong! Zestful Mehndi Ceremony
The wedding celebrations proceeded to Jaipur and kicked off with a mehendi night. Glowing in her bridal glory, Rhea looked fab in the signature yellow lehenga set boasting dazzling gotapatti work from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. A head-turning ensemble of polki jewels added to the swoon-worthy charm! Natural makeup in blush tones completed the look. Avik yet again kept it subtle and classy in ivory separates. The ceremony was a vibrant affair with Rajasthani Bazaar-inspired decorations done with perfection by the team Blushing Bell Events.
Fun-filled Sangeet Night
Celebrations continued in high spirits with the Sangeet ceremony that was a night to remember for reasons more than one! The tremendously talented team of ShaadiSaga vendors Altair turned the venue into an enchanting forest under the sky lit with unbridled fairylights. Lots of natural foliage with a dash of florals, ornate chandeliers, candles and rustic corners were aesthetically used for the surreal decorations! And heart-throbbing dance performance by the bridesmaids with Alia Bhatt in the entourage set the stage ablaze. And of course, the couple Rhea and Avik further raised the heat with their chemistry and fashion-savvy sartorial choices.
Rhea glimmered in a metallic lehenga set with a heavy dose of bling from Manish Malhotra. A voguish cape dupatta and dazzling diamond jewels rounded off the Sangeet look. She kept her hair open in soft waves and wore a dainty diamond maangtikka! Avik rocked a crisp look in a well-fitted achkan set.
Alia fluttered our hearts not only with the dance moves but also for yet again giving us major bridesmaids goals with her pretty pink saree. She wore it with a blingy blouse and her forever-favourite accessory - a maangtikka!
Gorgeous Wedding With A Unique Mandap
Rhea and Avik took pheras under a mandap laden with over 2,000 Swarovski crystals! A majestic sight to behold, for sure. Add to that the gorgeous-looking couple who put their best fashion foot forward for the ceremony.
Ditching the regular reds, Rhea picked a dull gold Faraz Manan lehenga set replete with intricate silver threadwork. Diamond jewels with a hint of popping emeralds completed the look. The diva also wore a red chooda set and golden kaleeras to add final touches to her bridal look. The groom looked utterly charming in one-of-a-kind white chikankari sherwani. The baby's breath jaimalas with blooming bright roses weaved in popped beautifully against their soft-hued outfits.
And here's a look at the cynosure of the wedding pheras - the inverted tree of life mandap! Kim Kardashian's Met Gala 2019 dress was the inspiration behind the majestic mandap, and it had 2,000 crystals raining down.
