They say that you don't find love, it finds you. It's got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what's written in the stars. So, when our real couple, Alysha and Varun, met each other, they just knew that love sometimes, is not one's choice, but one's fate. With an opulent wedding that took place in the extravagant city of Marrakech in Morroco, the couple displayed some of #couplegoals when it comes to destination weddings.
Theirs is a story of idyllic romance that gives us butterflies on how the couple fits perfectly together, like the pieces of a puzzle. The dazzling couple left no chance of displaying their affection and we're in awe of them as they enjoyed their wedding to the fullest. Every ceremony was dotted with laughter, joy and much exuberance.
When Alysha encountered Varun at another wedding in London, two years ago, the two instantly connected with each other. Having looked him up on Instagram, she couldn't stop playing around with the joke that he was "so good looking" and possibly her "future husband".
Upon meeting once again, romance quickly bloomed between the two. Their connection was so strong that they just knew they were meant to spend the rest of their lives sharing their world exploring adventures together.
Life came full circle for the couple when they found the perfect destination for their wedding- Marrakech, Morocco. Alysha and Varun both knew in their hearts that this was the place they'd get married at, considering the Dalamal family's paternal grandfather had spent most of his life there.
The beautiful city of Marrakech not only held a familial feeling for them but was one doused in colourful cultures and traditions. They could not have wished for a more spiritual destination to tie the knot. Among the many properties of the city, they chose to host their wedding at the La Mamouina Hotel, as it stood out in more ways than one. With luxurious decor, Moorish splendour and intricately architectured courtyards, this award-winning hotel was an oasis of calm which resonated with the bride and groom's personality.
The couple seemed to have lost track of time as they dived into creating the most magical wedding for themselves, with the help of friends and family. The entire wedding planning process was so flawlessly executed that everything felt just right.
With guests flying in from all over the globe, the couple and their families received them to the La Mamounia Hotel with a welcome dinner party. Adorned with a black and gold theme, the night was named 'Neo Afrique', with mystic fire arts, live African model statues, tropical plants and voguish cocktails. The guests grooved to the music of the Dubai based band Soul & Funk, that set just the right mood for a fun and festive function that lasted all night.
Overlooking a sparkling pool and sprawling orange orchards, the Mehendi ceremony was held at Alysha's Riad. She sat underneath white canopies dotted with fresh flora, dressed in a dreamy pastel pink outfit by Anita Dongre. An intimate affair, the bride's side was all smiles as the ceremony continued with foot-tapping music and glee. The Riad was a specimen of fine architecture, with luxurious fabrics, hand-painted wooden ceilings and Moroccan tile work. Add more fun to the joyous occasion, Varun and his family dropped by for the Sargi ceremony.
After the Mehendi and Dargi ceremony, the couple and the guests proceeded to the poolside for the 'Moroccan Chill' lunch party. With organic Bohemian hues, the wedding party enjoyed the afternoon sunbathing in the glorious Moroccan weather, with flavoursome food, delectable cocktails and pleasant music.
The Sangeet was set in the rustic Beldi Country Club, Marrakech. A true royal affair with candlelit alleys and arched courtyards, the sangeet function blended tradition with romance. Picture Sabyasachi meets Morocco- dramatically magnificent decor paired with regal and intricately designed Sabyasachi couture that complimented the occasion perfectly. The couple walked in with a head-turning panache, accompanied by a league of Moroccan Berbers. DJ Sameer and DJ Zaar, along with rhythmic dhols, had everyone dancing as if it's their last.
As a girl, it was always Alysha's dream to wear an embellished Sabyasachi lehenga on her wedding day. Even her friends and family were unable to contain their excitement, as they waited for her dress up and walk into the courtyard. With the ornate Riad as her backdrop, Alysha walked out decked up in her favourite designer's bridal lehenga, transforming into a stunning bride.
As he donned a debonair off white Sabyasachi sherwani, Varun made a fantabulous entrance in a sparkling red vintage car along with his ardent league of best men. Dancing to the beat of dhols accompanied with such an awesome entrance, Varun ensured his Baraat was as splendid as himself.
There's nothing as blissful as witnessing the union of two hearts that have found each other after limitless searching. If we were to ask anyone to recall the moment Alysha stepped on the stage dressed in peonies and white roses, they'd surely describe her beauty like that of an iridescent pearl in the midst of lush greenery. The love and adoration in Varun's eyes were evident as he watched his future wife for the first time approaching him. The ceremony was held at dusk, making it a visual delight with traditional Indian decor that merged seamlessly with the Moroccan backdrop.
After a quick 20-minute break post the wedding ceremony, the newlywed couple and their guests proceeded to Palmeraie. The glass marquee under the stars turned into an enchanting venue for the garden-themed Reception. The reception was a scene straight out a fairytale with the venue being adorned with frilly clumps of bougainvillaea, olive trees, red hibiscus and roses. The event was a sit-down dinner with incredible live music, a huge wedding cake and congratulatory speeches by loved ones. Varun dedicated a heartfelt speech to his new wife, family and everyone who had graced this joyous occasion with their presence. This was finally followed by the couple's first dance on the song 'Can't take my eyes off you' played by David's band.
