Lovebirds Mitika and Ridhesh are both adventurous souls who believed in celebrating their marriage rather than putting on a show for their guests. But what sets this couple apart is the fact that they chose to do it in a zero-waste, eco-friendly manner! Our hearts gushed looking at the outfits of the bride and groom and their eco-friendly decor and the design that added the local cultural element.

Introducing Mitika & Ridhesh

Mitika Bajpai and Ridhesh Sejpal first met as volunteers for a young professionals community in Mumbai, which needed them to catch up over dinner to ideate for an upcoming project. However, hours into this ‘brainstorming session’, the couple found themself chatting with great ease about everything from their love for travel, animals and food. And later that week, they met up again where Mitika was introduced to Ridhesh’s cat Rumi, and the little meeting with his feline made the two inseparable after.

For their wedding, the bride and groom chose The Gir Forest, which was ideal for incorporating the unique activities they had planned to be included in their celebration. The wedding's two days were more of an adventure with more activities than ceremonies.

According to the wedding planner and designer, Prerika Puri (Founder and Creative head at To The Aisle), "The location itself offered a pottery workshop on both evenings, as well as an organic vegetable field tour and a fresh fruit shop. Everything about the wedding was environmentally friendly, including the wedding location, Woods at Sasan, which recycles all of its waste and has as environmentally friendly infrastructure and interiors as possible."

Carnival-Themed Cocktail Party

A carnival-themed event was hosted under the stars, complete with an emcee hosting a plethora of activities and games. Everyone performed with much zeal and had the time of their lives. Following the cocktail, the guests gathered for a late-night stargazing, which truly tugged at everyone's heart!

Eco-friendly Intimate Wedding in Gir Forest

The wedding day has a more rustic bohemian touch to it. Each guest's fondest memory of the trip was the jungle safari when they all saw a lion and a slew of lionesses on the morning of the wedding. One of the biggest winning factors of the decor was the couple's mandap created with gorgeous boho elements like tassels, cotton cloth and wood. Mitika stepped down the aisle in a gorgeous red-pink lehenga and minimal jewellery. Ridhesh, on the other hand, wore a dapper off white sherwani with golden embroidery and a gilded gold stole. Another moment that truly captured everyone's awe was the groom's entry with his groomsmen on bicycles. Whereas Mitika walked down the aisle surrounded by pretty little bubbles that her bridesmaids ensured were floating in the area.

Glam Reception Night

The wedding was followed by a quaint reception ceremony, lined with gorgeous fairylights and faux glass elements. Mitika wore a beautiful grey sequin off-shoulder gown while Ridhesh wore a black sherwani with an embroidered shawl. One of the most endearing things of the event was the live band that graced the occasion, allowing the couple and their guests to enjoy great music and dance under the starry skies.
