Every single to-be bride at least once in her life has dreamed of donning a Sabyasachi lehenga on her big day. Even though many of you believe that the designer’s aesthetic doesn’t match your personality, you too would have gotten tempted someday and would have opened his Instagram page and browsed through his bridal collections. What we mean to say is, whether a woman is getting hitched or not, every single one of us loves the designer and his bridal lehengas. So to say the least, every time the designer launches a new collection, everyone is simply hooked to their phones and lusting over the clothes. For his 2021 collection, designer Sabyasachi shocked us all by making the famous fashion designer Masaba Gupta his muse. Yes, this was one of those rare moments when fashion’s two fantastic designers joined hands for a collection but not as collaborators but simply one as the muse of the other.
Masaba Gupta in Sabyasachi’s The 2021 Collection
1. Sabyasachi's Regal Bride
The first look that the designer revealed was his muse, Masaba Gupta, in a quintessential red bridal lehenga with details that hit you with nostalgia. Remember your mom’s lehenga that she donned on her wedding day? Now imagine something similar but in a refined and more polished fashion. This lehenga consists of details such as fringe detailed borders, a big gota border, two dupattas, intricate thread and embroidery work and whatnot. Gupta was decked up as an old-school bride with a heavy choker set, dangling gold jhumkis, a grand mathapatti and gold bangles; all from Sabyasachi’s jewellery line.
What we absolutely loved about this stupendous bridal lehenga was how in first glance, it brought back some fond memories and made us actually believe that old is indeed gold!

2. Traditional Techniques Meet Modern Designs
Masaba’s looks in Sabyasachi lehengas and Sabyasachi sarees are outstanding and completely different from the first one. While the first look took us back to our mother and our grandmother’s era, this second look is all about celebrating the design sensibility of today. In these bridal pieces, Sabyasachi played around with different prints and merged them to create something beautiful. Who would have imagined that pairing a multi-colored bright dupatta with a dark-coloured lehenga with floral motifs would come out to be so stunning? And with Masaba’s bold looks and strong features, who will not want to get these lehengas and sarees for their mehendi function or wedding day?
Heck, I would buy it just because its breathtakingly beautiful!
3. Your Classic Sabyasachi Lehenga
Another look revealed by Sabyasachi of his muse designer Masaba Gupta is one of his creations was this lemon yellow lehenga that at the first look can easily be identified as part of the legendary designer’s collection. It checks all the points of a ‘Sabya lehenga’ such as floral motifs, a v-plunging deep neckline, a broad border and a beautiful colour. Masaba Gupta in this lehenga has truly managed to bring her best side forward.
