It's raining celeb weddings in 2020!

Acclaimed Telugu and Tamil film star Kajal Aggarwal tied the knot with her beau, businessman Gautam Kitchlu, on 30th October 2020. After holding a lockdown engagement back in June with her interior design and furniture entrepreneur beau, the couple held an intimate wedding with just 50 people in attendance at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, making it the first celebrity wedding in the city post lockdown!

The Lockdown Engagement

The couple's engagement news came out back in June, amidst the thickness of the lockdown. The duo held a quaint family function for which Kajal wore a beautifully embroidered yellow saree by designer Manish Malhotra. However, it was the stunning yellow blouse with a multi-layered chain detailing on the back which truly stole the show for us! The look came together with her hair left open and a pair of exquisite chandelier earrings. And of course, in the spirit of responsible celebration, both Kajal and Gaurav wore matching face masks with their outfits and had a small celebration with family at home. 

Mehendi Ceremony

The true festivities of the wedding kicked off with an intimate Mehendi ceremony. Held at the gorgeous Souffle restaurant near her home, the mehendi was a pastel-hued affair for which the radiant bride wore a mint green suit by Anita Dongre paired with some stunning chaandbalis from the label Anita Dongre Pinkcity. Kajal also opted for a pretty peacock motif mehendi for her wedding and kept her overall look simple yet elegant with minimal makeup and plaited hair. 

Haldi Function

The haldi and pooja took place at Kajal's family home in Nagin Mahal Building at Churchgate. The laid back event studded in light floral decor was a small family gathering for which Kajal dressed in a golden yellow sleeveless suit with beautiful floral jewellery by FloralArt.

The Wedding Day

The grand wedding celebration took place at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai on 30th October. The entire event was a melange of the couple's Punjabi and Kashmiri cultures, paying homage to their respective families and heritage. The main ballroom of the hotel was decked with hues of pink and white floral decor inspired by the beauty of Kashmir which also incorporated elements such as Shikara style windows. The pathway to the mandap was gorgeously lined with mirrors, flowers and pampas grass while the mandap itself was pyramid-shaped, with a floral canopy cascading down the sides that enamoured anyone and everyone. 

Kajal opted to style herself in a heavily embroidered red lehenga by Anamika Khanna with minimal jewellery while the groom wore an ivory sherwani with gold embroidered by Anita Dongre. What touched everyone's hearts was the incorporation of the Telugu wedding ritual of Jeelakarabellum due to the couple's intimate history and connection to South India. 

This was followed by a formal reception at the same venue, which saw heartfelt speeches and toasts by family members along with classical music by a violinist which kept the night going melodically and soothingly.
