Sure, glass skin sounds ideal for any summer bride, but the truth of the matter is that the majority of us are dealing with some degree of facial redness, splotchiness and skin sensitivity. At its best, redness on your face can be annoying, but at its worst, it can be an indication of underlying health issues and a source of irritation, discomfort or insecurity. In fact, brides-to-be worry about redness and inflammation, which can come about due to something as simple as a sunburn or something as wicked as a bad salon appointment.

Thus, to help you deal with some last-minute redness or skin inflammation here are a few home remedies and natural ingredients that you can use to calm this last-minute skin problem down!

5 Ingredients To Reduce Redness & Skin Inflammation

When you want to get rid of redness and irritation fast, all you have to do is turn to your pantry and pick any of these six readily available ingredients to save you the trouble. Here are the natural remedies we trust the most!

Ingredient #1: Honey To Reduce Inflammation

Honey is one of the most skin-friendly ingredients out there (after Aloe Vera, of course!). It's rich in natural anti-inflammatory properties. If you've noticed a sudden rise in redness on your skin in between your wedding functions, all you gotta do is apply a soothing honey mask. Just rinse your skin with warm water, apply honey liberally to the red areas and after 30 minutes, rinse your skin.

(Note: Do not use Honey on a sunburn.)

Oatmeal is another natural anti-inflammatory ingredient. Not only does it hydrate your skin, but also calms down any irritation on the skin. The best way to use oatmeal on redness and skin inflammation is through an oatmeal bath.

  • If you're looking for a mask alternative, then take 2-3 tbsp of oatmeal in a bowl and add the required amount of water to it.
  • Mix them and make a paste. To this, add two tbsp raw honey and mix again.
  • Apply the mixture on the face and neck and gently massage for few minutes.
  • If your skin is very irritated, then do not massage the mask, just let it sit on your skin for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Ingredient #3: Yoghurt for Sunburns

Many dermatologists have suggested people with sunburns apply cold fat-free yoghurt on their skin. The natural ingredient is both soothing and protective, as it's rich in protein. Coat the sunburnt area with yoghurt for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat this every two to four hours to soothe a sunburn.

Ingredient #4: Aloe Vera- The Winning Skincare Ingredient

Aloe Vera is probably a universally known and accepted treatment for many skin problems. In fact, Ayurvedic medicine also speaks of Aloe vera as an ingredient that heals the skin. You can either use fresh gel extract from an aloe vera leaf or use a packaged aloe gel. Apply the gel over the affected area and let it stay on your skin for about 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse your face with cold water after that.

Ingredient #5: Essential Oils

Essential oils like lavender, jasmine, rose, tea tree, thyme etc. have anti-inflammatory and healing properties that can do wonders for your skin. Add 2-3 drops of any essential oil to few drops of carrier oils like almond or coconut and apply it over the affected area before sleeping. Trust us, the reduced redness will surprise you the next morning for sure!

Note: While these ingredients are the top choice of any and every industry expert to deal with such last-minute shenanigans, if you do develop a serious skin condition, we advise you to visit a dermatologist as soon as possible.
