2020 may be behind us, but celebrity weddings are not.

And one of our favourite celeb weddings that took place in 2020 was the amazing intimate wedding of Comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath and his beau and actress Sulagna Panigrahi! The amazing close-knit wedding took place on December 9th, 2020 after which the couple dropped the bomb on social media, announcing to their fans that they were married!

Introducing Biswa & Sulagna's Intimate Wedding

Known for his endlessly hilarious stand up comedy shows, his youtube prescene and appearing as a judge on the Amazon Prime Video reality show Comicstaan, Biswa is a long loved engineer turned stand up comics and the creator of Amazon original show Laakhon Mein Ek. His new bride, Sulagna, meanwhile is known for her television presence on shows like Amber Dhara, Do Saheliyaan and Bidaai along with movies such as Murder 2,  Ishq Wala Love, Isai, Guru Dakshina and Raid.

Though the couple have always been very hush-hush about their relationship, the wedding announcement was no surprise for their friends, who took the opportunity to reply with witty congratulations messages to the comic's social media post, "Biswa Married Aadmi."

Biswa’s comedian friends dropped congratulatory messages in the comments section. Kaneez Surka left a shocked face emoji. Rahul Dua wrote, “Arre sabhi log shaadi kara rahe hain kya problem hai sabko (What’s everyone’s problem? Why is everyone getting married?).” Atul Khatri commented, “Suit kaam mein ayega - corporate show ke liye (That suit will come in handy at corporate shows).” Abhishek Upamanyu wrote that he was ‘so sorry’ for Biswa.

The wedding was a close knit affair with a few pre wedding functions, including a mehendi, sangeet the main wedding and reception.

Mehendi

Sharing glimpses of her mehendi function, the bride posted a few pictures on social media, showing off her pretty ensemble of yellow-green Farah sharara set with a rain pink dupatta by the Empress Pitara, which she paired with pink floral jewellery.

Sangeet

After the mehendi, Sulagna shared a few pictures from her of her twirling in a beautiful mint green lehenga with peach dupatta by Priti Sahni. Talking about the sangeet, the bride wrote, "A month since this day, 8th December 2020 Sangeet night. Most of my friends couldn't make it to my wedding due to a special guest called Corona😡. Nevertheless this night was a night I will cherish forever all the videos everyone sent me to wish me from afar and the most beautiful unrehearsed dance by my cousins and sister more than made up for everyone I was missing. All this was made possible by the most incredible sister in the world Smruti Panigrahi."

Wedding

One of our favourite glimpse from the wedding was of the wedding night itself, where both the bride and groom shared a few stills of them getting married. Channelling her husband's hilarity, the bride wrote, "Pic 1- Watching our single life burn away. Pic 2- it's gonna be a fun ride! We married now Biswa 😳😳😳 Wooooohhhhhoooooooo!"

Whereas, Biswa kept it simple and announced, "Biswa Married Aadmi."

Reception

While Biswa shared a hilarious reception still of him and his new bride making funny faces, Sulagna took the social media platform and thanked everyone in an endearing note along with a gorgeous picture of herself in a stunning red saree by Prisho, "Thank you so much, everyone, for all the love that has been showered on us❤️❤️❤️ Really overwhelmed by the response."
