All You Need To Know About Groom Styling For The Upcoming Wedding Season

Sudatta Bhattacharjee, 12 Nov 2016

Once upon a time, the only star at a wedding was considered to be the bride who would steal all the limelight. It's 2016 now and we (brides) don't mind if our grooms are in the limelight too (but only after us!). No matter how handsome a groom looks on his wedding day, not many of us talk about what he’s wearing as we're too busy asking the bride "acha, lehenga kaha se liya phir?"

But I personally believe that the grooms today are just as concerned about their wedding look as much as their brides and especially in a world that has made men more conscious about their looks! And this is precisely why, today I'm writing the blog for all brides-to-be who are looking for wedding attire inspiration for their fiancé. Send this to your groom-to-be because now is the time to move over groom’s attire than a predictable beige and maroon sherwani.

→ For cocktail or reception: You have classic black tuxedos for that ideal western look. A light coloured printed pocket square on a deep monotone base; a geometric pocket square on blazers/suits/tux can work wonders.

The Latest Trend Right Now For Grooms

Aleem Khan of Khanate Studio Line has a lot of grooms coming in these days asking for embroidered or embellished wedding attire which 10 years ago only women used to do. So, what can the grooms can wear:

→ Threadwork embroidery on kurtas or sherwani or → Heavily embellished sherwani and kurtas

Aleem Khan's suggestion: Wear a kurta underneath a sherwani and keep the latter unbuttoned.

Different Ways Grooms Can Experiment With The Attire

Kanika Goyal of Kanika Goyal Label says, “Grooms can experiment a lot in terms of fabric and the best thing is that grooms today are ready to experiment. On a personal level, I think grooms really look nice in shades such as navy, dark chocolate brown, violet, wine, mint, baby blue/pink and powder blue. I know for a fact that florals are very in these days but then again everything depends on the personality of the groom and how he carries it off”.

So, if you don’t want to go for a regular sherwani, you can always go for:

→ Bandhgala Jackets/Coats with Jodhpuri pant trousers

→ Checkered blazers with jodhpuri pants

→ Angrakha style kurtas

Kanika Goyal's suggestion: Go for a bandhgala with a gold chain embellished collar or a patiala salwar with a long kurta and a sherwani on top can make you look even more better.
