"Woah, that was an exciting month!" is what I thought after attending the most celebrated fashion shows like the India Couture Week 2016 and Vogue Wedding Show 2016. But little did I know that it was just the beginning as the next occasion to roll in was the famous Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 that kicked off in Mumbai recently.
Even though, Lakme Fashion Week does not exclusively showcase collection for brides and grooms but there are always a few designers who are bound to surprise you with a variety of bridal options. From sparkle and glitter to eccentric and simple, this year's Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 saw an exciting line-up of sarees and lehengas on the ramp.
Top designers such as Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee were among the few who presented stunning groom wear options that ranged from floral embroidery to heavy embellishments. The mixture of bright and deep dark hues seen at Saroj Jalan's show and the display of lehengas in soft candy colours by Anushree Reddy certainly made their love for couture reach a new height. Payal Singhal's powder pink and soft lilac coloured outfits were no less on the ramp particularly the style and cut of the straight suits (ummm, is the trend coming back? You never know!). Payal Khandwala exhibited gorgeous silk lehengas that are perfect to keep you warm for a day time mehendi function in winters. Pariah by Pranami made her debut this year with indigenous silk clothing that is well-known in Assam and combined them with different fabrics. Rang by Swati Vijaivargie is another fashion house that showcased embroidery work on silk fabrics.
While there was plenty to love from this season's couture fabrics, here's what we loved for our brides and grooms:
