Normally, I’d have talked about how Deepika’s Saree style has evolved over the years. Alas! I’m tight-lipped for I am totally speechless as to how this woman was, is, and will always resemble a goddess when it comes to rocking a saree. Fangirling much, am I? Oh, I don’t care. It’s no less than a treat to gawk at her in awe (coupled with a tinge of jealousy and self-loathing) every time she steps out looking like a perfect 10. So, we at Shaadisaga planned to put together 10 of her most drool-worthy looks in a saree that totally made us want to toss all our western wear away. Looking at the following, it’s easy to say that Sabyasachi is clearly her favorite. Well, we don’t blame her. The designer’s work is no less than magic. Take a look:
Saree with stiletto pumps? Count us in! This look of hers is simply perfect for a day event, with just pearl earrings and a red lip to support. Brownie points for that braid though.
Spotted in a stunning Sabyasachi lace saree during Ram Leela’s promotions, Deepika took to sporting larger-than-life earrings and a red lip (again) to go with the saree. You may have seen several versions of this look already, but that doesn’t really take away from the fact that she totally nails the look.
Is it the saree? Is it her makeup? Or both? Either way, we think she looked absolutely fantastic in this shiny, sparkly Sabyasachi treat. Again, an expected look from her, but we’d take this one over those “trying-too-hard” looks by others anyday.
Way back in 2012, DP wore this saree for the Filmfare Awards and we fell in love all over again. Why? Not many can rock a sheer saree quite like her. Don’t you think?
While we’re digging her past looks, this one definitely makes this list, for there’s not much that has changed about DP’s saree avatars. Bun – check. Higher-than-high blouse – check. Minimal accessories – check. We don’t see her in a bindi that often these days. So, this one really makes us wish she sported it more often.
Cut to 2015! It’s a delight to see her donning a floral Sabyasachi, making the look oh-so-refreshing! The casual bun, pop earrings and fresh makeup makes the look really effortless.
One of the few times she let her hair down, Deepika looked every bit a star in this black and white ensemble. Something about tall ladies donning bedzzling full-sleeved blouses gets us all excited. This look was no exception!
A) How gorgeous is that saree? B) Major ‘Rajputana’ vibe being emanated! Closed neck or wide, her blouse styles truly have a significant role to play in her looks. This blouse, for instance, takes her look to another level altogether. That, and the subtle middle-parted bun.
Seldom does she don colors other than the usual pales, blushes and pastels. And, when she does wear darker shades, she looks like this! I mean, from her ravishing makeup, to the simple hairdo, and nothing but those jhumkis as the sole accessory, there’s absolutely nothing we’d like to change in this look.
And, we saved the best for last! Unlike all the above looks, it’s her extremely minimalistic yet sensual avatar in this blue saree that we’ve not yet gotten over. Accessorizing with just a pair of danglers and a nosepin, this look by DP went on to become truly icnonic.
