“When I get married, I won’t wear a red outfit”.

“I want to have a small intimate destination wedding with a few family members and friends”.

“I don’t want to send out invites, I’ll just go for E-invites”.

These requests from brides may (or may not!) sound crazy but when we attended the Bridal Styling Masterclass by Anaita Shroff Adajania at Vogue Wedding Show 2017, she assured that it’s the couple’s big day.  Let the bride and groom decide what they’ve always wanted to on their big day because years later when they have a sneak peek at their wedding album, they should feel happy!

Anaita Shroff Adajania, Fashion Director of Vogue India also shared a few styling tips for brides:

For The Vintage Bride Let your wedding outfits show some old world charm and take you into an era that has passed. You can experiment with cut sleeves blouse with a flared lehenga and add temple jewellery.

For The Palace Bride Planning a wedding at royal palaces is a major trend seen among people these days. You can experiment with tone on tone, or shades of ivory, or something subtle which blends with the place.

For The Modern Bride A modern bride can always look out for that fun factor which can bring out her own personality. Opt for altered sleeves, corsets and shorter blouse with no need of dupatta to let you be in shape and comfort all the time.

Styling Tips for Wedding Functions

Mehendi Do not miss to be at your Bohemian best on the most important event before the wedding day. Choose gold or silver, or bright colours, mix them but also remember to wear some comfort that doesn’t kill you!

Sangeet It’s the day for you to sparkle and shine! Be your best but don’t hesitate to choose colours like champagne, gold or silver.

Cocktail Brides, you can wear gowns to have red carpet moment and if your groom is up for an experiment, make him wear a red suit.

Wedding You can try to go for colour coordinated outfits or add a tinge of contrast to them. For a flamboyant groom, there are many options like sharp suits.

BONUS TIPS!

#1 Choose outfits according to your personality Don’t become a muse of any designer or follow them blindly. If you have dreamt of that fairytale wedding with your favourite lehenga, go for it. Do not give people the right to tell you what to wear for the functions.

#2 If you want to wear a dark colour on your wedding day or any other event and think black to be inauspicious, go for colours like dark blue or green.

#3 If your shoulders are wide, try for darker colours on the top and if hips are wide, try for the same on the lower.

#4 If too much make up doesn’t suit you, don’t try it for your wedding day Less is always more and be subtle as much as you can. It is your day and you should know what makeup suits your best. Do not let makeup artists dictate anything to you. Instead, instruct them what are your choices.

#5 Do not get carried away by the ongoing trends When you go trousseau shopping, try not to jump over and buy any instantly. Give reasonable time to see if it fits and doesn’t itch you or make you feel uncomfortable in any way or the other.

#6 Do not forget the comfort factor Do not suffer because of uncomfy heels or a tight fitting outfit. Shop smartly and not blindly!

Last but not the least, do not compromise on comfort and style as there isn’t substitute for them.
