“Three whole months?,” I asked the beautician while discussing pre-bridal packages. “Ain't nobody got time for that,” I snorted and shook my head in revolt. I had promised myself that I wouldn't become a Bridezilla, and would be extremely cool throughout my pre-wedding preps. But of course, the lengths to which would-be brides go to in order to prep their skin scared me. Nope, not me, I thought to myself. Shortcuts are my thing, and even something as huge as a wedding couldn't change that. Are you one of those lazy brides who wouldn't care much for the bazillion trips to the salon, time-consuming facials, and draining detoxes? I, for one, was, and thanks to a strenuous job, couldn't make time for the skin care, no matter how much I wanted to. But, hey, the good news is, you don't really need to. Those exotic pre-bridal packages are confusing, overwhelming, and plain expensive. What you need are quick fixes that deliver fast results to those persistent dark circles, and replenish your skin. So, here go with some no-nonsense, tried and tested tips for skin care that command nothing but regularity. Just a few minutes on a daily basis, and your skin will be wedding-ready in no time.
If you're going to skip pre-bridal salon treatments, it's essential that you start taking supplements at least two months before the big day. While you can pop multi-vitamin pills, I would like to emphasize of just Vitamin C and Zinc, courtesy first-hand experience. I've found Vitamin C to help me with my sun damage and boost healthy collagen, leading to firmer skin. Zinc, on the other hand, works like a charm in reducing blemishes and acne scars. These supplements are available at any medical store; give them a go and witness changes from the very first week.
Why do we women underestimate the power of sunscreen? I often forget to dab it, only to end up exfoliating the life out of my skin in order to get rid of the Sun-tan. If you're sailing on the same boat as I am, here's a solution. Before you step into the shower, mix curd with lime juice, and apply it onto your face, hands, and feet. Sit still for 15 minutes and wash it off. Do it for 3 weeks and you'll see your original complexion returning. Gram flour is another excellent alternative to curd.
Before you run from the mere mention of exercise, just hear me out. Exercise may help you shape your body later, but it first impacts your skin! Any form of workout such as a 20-minute run, 30 minutes on the treadmill, or even yoga, boosts your metabolism, enhances your blood flow, and adds a healthy glow to your skin. And, hey! Visible abs and toned arms are an added bonus! Start your exercise regime three months prior to the wedding, and complement your workouts with a healthy diet. Don't go on crash diets; just choose healthier options. Image Credit
This, is one of the best decisions I ever made in my life! I have combination skin, but it wasn't devoid of untimely breakouts. Products containing salicylic acid helped me a great deal combating the issue of acne and pimples. It's fantastic for deep cleansing, and helps in skin rejuvenation, thanks to its ability to reduce oil in your skin. I simply swapped my face wash with a salicylic acid gel (concentration: ~0.5%), and soon witnessed my blackheads dissolve and breakouts minimize. However, don't leave it on for too long as it has a tendency to dry out the skin.
My grandmother's favorite, I hold this low-key skin care tip extremely close to my heart. After you remove makeup at night and wash your face before going to bed, apply a concoction of glycerin and lime juice with the help of a cotton swab. I have found this alternative to be better than any night cream in the world as it helps reduce age spots, dark circles, and softens the skin. Glycerin truly is the all-rounder of home-based skin care products, right alongside lime juice. Applying a mix of both regularly not only keeps your skin hydrated, but also lightens your skin tone.
Image Credit Now, this isn't to say that salon treatments are totally worthless, and I'm definitely not against them. Truth be told, they make you feel like a princess. And who doesn't love pampering every now and then? It's for those women who do not make a big deal out of pre-bridal skin care that the above-mentioned tips can come handy. They're no-fuss, require minimum effort, and produce more or less, similar results. The key, in the end, is regularity. So, we up for this little commitment or not?
